1343248 Purifying cyclopentene ERDOLCHEMIE GmbH 21 June 1972 [26 June 1971 26 Jan 1972] 28950/72 Heading C5E Crude cyclopentene, which contains olefinic and diolefinic C 5 impurities, is purified by treatment with a macroporous cation exchanger in the H form. The exchanger is preferably styrenedivinyl benzene copolymer containing sulphonic acid groups. The treatment may be carried out 0-80‹ C. and a pressure of 1-10 bars. The exchange resin may have an average pore diameter of 5-150 mÁ, a porosity of 0À2-0À8 ml. of cation exchanger beads, a specific surface of 20-500 m.2/g. dry resin and a grain size of 0À1-1À8 mm. The purified cyclopentane may be subsequently distilled.
