1413137 Metal-working lubricant SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 24 Oct 1972 [26 Oct 1971] 48977/72 Heading C5F An emulsifiable oil for the cold-rolling of light metals comprises an alkylated benzene, e.g. 5-75 wt. per cent, a C 5-22 fatty acid, e.g. 1-15 wt. per cent, a C 10-20 aliphatic alcohol, e.g. 1-15 wt. per cent, as emulsifier and an anti-corrosion agent. A cold-rolling lubricant consists of an aqueous emulsion containing 1-20 vol. per cent of the above oil. Preferred emulsifiers are alkoxylated C 6-20 alkyl phenol or alkoxylated aliphatic C 5-20 alcohol. The anti-corrosion agent may consist of partial esters of C 8-22 fatty acids with polyhydric alcohols. Optional additives include C 1-3 alkanolamine, ethoxylated aliphatic alcohols, alkali metal or ethanolamine sulphoamido-acetate and solvents, e.g. butyl glycol. The emulsions may be prepared as concentrates.
