发明名称 OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE AND METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING SAID WAVEGUIDE
摘要 PURPOSE:To produce an optical waveguide having a defectless refractive index distribution in a short period by a simple method by irradiating a laser to a transparent resin substrate and moving the irradiated part so as to correspond to the direction where light is guided. CONSTITUTION:The laser light is irradiated to the transparent resin substrate to continuously form the required refractive index distribution to the desired direction where the light is guided while the transparent resin substrate or laser light is moved to correspond to the desired direction where the light is guided to obtain the optical waveguide in a short period by the simple means. The optical waveguide can be produced by an apparatus consisting of a laser light oscillator 1, a mirror 3 for conducting the laser light oscillated by the same to the optical system, the optical system such as lens to allow the passage of the laser light, a stage 7 to place the transparent resin in the position where the laser light is irradiated, etc. The optical waveguide is thus formed to an optical shape simply by the operation of irradiating the laser and the easy production by using the material, i.e., transparent resin which can be easily handled is made possible.
