Method and apparatus for removing the paint from painted plastic components

In order to remove the paint from painted plastic components, especially from painted bumpers of motor vehicles, the granulated plastic particles are mixed with an aqueous paint-removing agent and the paint is then removed by rubbing of the plastic particles. Subsequently the mixture is stirred, with the addition of further paint-removing agents, and the aqueous paint removing agent is removed. The residual mixture of plastic parts and paint particles is then washed with water and the paint particles are separated off by centrifuging. A device suitable for implementing the process consists of a mixer with a fast-running mixing mechanism, a stirred vessel adjoining the latter and having a stirrer, and a screen-type centrifuge adjoining the stirred container.
