The present invention describes the construction and physiological action of an ergodynamic footrest. The apparatus consists of a foot support plate (1), preferably equipped with rollers (3) and with axles (4) receiving these rollers (3), of a frame (2) and apparatus feet (6). The foot support plate (1) can be provided on one or both sides either with non-slip inserts (7) or with nub discs (8) for stimulating the foot reflex zones. The foot support plate (1) rolls on the frame (2) in rocking fashion similar to a hypercycloid path, as a result of which foot joint, knee joint and hip joint are moved. Furthermore, pronounced contractions as well as extension/relaxation result in the peroneal muscle region, which initiate the function of a muscle pump/varix pump. The present invention has set itself the object of making available to people who sit a lot an ergodynamic footrest which helps to prevent varicose veins and stiffening leg joints. <IMAGE>
