PURPOSE:To arbitrarily change the aspect ratio of a picture by using one of picture of an overlap part outputted from a compound eye image pickup device as a reference, and synthesizing the other picture. CONSTITUTION:An aspect ratio conversion processing part 10 stores video signals from two image sensors through A/D converters 110 and 210 in picture memories 11 and 211. A picture correlation processing part 15 reads the video signals from the memories 111 and 211, and executes a correlation arithmetic operation by using a prescribed function. A synthesis processing part 16 inputs the pictures from the memories 111 and 211 when a correlation value is turned to peak in the processing part 15. At that time, the synthesis processing part 16 inputs the entire picture area from the memory 211, and inputs a synthesis processing area corresponding to the aspect ratio from the memory 111 through a CPU 11. Next, the processing part 16 performs a local smoothing processing so that the joint of the picturess can not be prominent, and outputs a synthetic picture. Therefore, a picture without any picture deterioration of an arbitrary aspect ratio can be obtained. |
