PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a digital cordless system and an equipment to flexibly and efficiently cope with an increase in communication traffic. SOLUTION: In this digital cordless system in which an exchange and a cordless master set which can accommodate plural digital cordless terminals are interconnected through a wire circuit, an exchange 10 equipped with a voice CODEC having an information compressing rate higher than the ordinary rate and a cordless master set 30 provided with a voice CODEC having the same information compressing rate as that of the CODEC of the exchange 10 are provided and the user information channel of the wire circuit connecting the master set 30 to the exchange 10 is used by dividing the circuit into channels based on the user information using the voice CODEC and having a high information compressing rate in accordance with the number of connected calls in the section.
