<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device which enables a user who demands a printout to learn an actual processing status e.g. output termination and error occurrence, even at a remote place from a device, and can enhance convenience. <P>SOLUTION: This image processing device requests the user to enter a user ID, confirms the registration of the user (S103), referring to a user information table (in which the user name, the user ID and the IP address of a personal computer used by the user are registered), and initiates copy processing, when the user takes "login" procedures. The user leaves this operating site to return to his own seat while the copy is processed. At the time of terminating the copy processing, the device specifies the personal computer which is registered in the user information table and used by the user, based on the already recognized user ID, and sends a notice message that the copy processing is terminated, to the specified personal computer as an address (S106). In the meantime, the user carries out his own routines at his own seat until he receives the termination notice, and thus he no longer has to spend time uselessly.
