PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve quality of a display image by reducing an influence of adjacent display cells, on the display cell. SOLUTION: The display of an image in the image display device is performed by writing a gradation signals to the display cells on a plurality of scanning lines. A scanning part of the image display device performs scanning by moving: an image band in which a plurality of adjacent scanning lines are included and an image gradation value is set; and an adjustment band in which the same adjustment gradation value is set in a frame display period, in the prescribed scanning direction. The scanning part comprises: a gradation signal writing part which alternately writes an image signal for setting the display cell on the scanning line to the image gradation value and an adjustment signal having a polarity different from the image signal and for setting the gradation value of the display cell on the scanning line to the adjustment gradation value, to the display cells on any scanning lines; and a writing position setting part which moves the image band and the adjustment band to prescribed scanning directions by setting writing positions of the image signal and adjustment signal by means of the gradation signal writing part.
