PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the interference of a sheet discharge fence with a residual printing paper as much as possible without providing any sheet residue detecting sensor even if a printing paper on a sheet feed base is replaced by a one of different size in the state where the previous printing paper is left on a sheet discharge base. SOLUTION: This printer comprises a sheet size detecting means for detecting the sheet size of the printing sheet on the sheet feed base, a sheet discharge fence for regulating the printing sheet discharged onto the sheet discharge base, and a sheet discharge fence moving means for moving the position of the sheet discharge fence based on the detection result of the sheet size detecting means. When the printing sheet of a sheet size smaller than that of the printing sheet in the previous preparation and printing operation is placed on the sheet feed base, the movement of the sheet discharge fence by the sheet discharge fence moving means is not performed, and an alarm message to confirm the removal of the printing sheet on the sheet discharge base is outputted. |
