<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type video display device capable of achieving miniaturization of a freezing means, elimination of need of complicated temperature control and reduction in manufacture cost and in power cost by simplifying cooling of a light source element where a light source array is disposed in the projection type video display device. <P>SOLUTION: In the projection type video display device which obtains projection light by modulating at least light beams of three primary colors according to image information and synthesizing them, a light source unit is constituted by arranging a plurality of light source elements constituted by disposing a light source array where a plurality of light source devices are arranged on the same substrate on a heat receiving plat hierarchically so that the light beam of each color may be guided to the irradiation surface of a synthetic prism. The video display device includes: the freezing means equipped with at least a coolant compressor, a condenser, a decompression unit and a coolant piping constituting an evaporator; and an auxiliary cooling means whose cooling capacity is lower than the freezing means. In the plurality of light source arrays, the light source array whose heating value is relatively large is connected to the freezing means, while other light source arrays are connected to the auxiliary cooling means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
