A plate bending machine comprises a support beam 1, a clamping beam 3 for clamping a plate 2 to be bent to the beam 1 and a bending beam 6 mounted for pivotal movement relative to the support beam 1, yieldable means being provided which allow movement of the bending beam 6 away from pivot during bending. Plates of different thicknesses may thus be bent. The beam 6, which carries a tool 7, is slidably mounted in arms 5 pivotable in the direction S. The beam 6 is supported at each end, in the arms 5 by a spacer 8 on a piston-rod 9 of a piston 10 in an hydraulic cylinder 11 carried by the arm. The cylinders 11 communicate through pipes 12 with a relief valve, a pump or accumulator returning the piston to its initial position. A pneumatic or spring system may replace the hydraulic system. |
