In an axial-flow steam turbine or like machine having a casing divided along a horizontal plane into upper and lower halves 11, 10 respectively a stator blade ring 16, 18 is supported within the casing by substantially diametrically opposite dowel pins 24, each having a circular portion 32 engaging an opening 34 in the lower half 16 of the blade ring and an eccentric flat sided head portion slidably engaging a recess 26 in the corresponding half 10 of the casing. The head of each pin 24 has four sides 36, 38, 40, 42 each at a different distance from the pin centreline so that the position of the blade ring 16, 18 in a vertical plane can be adjusted at assembly by rotating the pin 24 about its centreline. The lower surface of the head of each pin 24 rests on a flat liner 28 secured to the lower half 10 of the casing by screws 30 and is prevented from riding up out of recess 26 by a member 44 held in position by screws 46. The sum of the dimensions A and D of the pin head head is equal to the sum of B and C so that the member 44 always engages the head but permits sliding of the head in the axial direction of pin 24 when thermal expansion of the blade ring or casing occurs. The opening 34 is tapered and the pin 24 may be secured therein solely by friction or, as shown, by a locking pin 48 screwed into one of four holes 50 in the pin 24. To assist in removal of the pin 24 at disassembly, recesses 52 are provided in the pin 24 adjacent the holes 50 so that, after removal of locking pin 48, liquid under pressure can be injected into chamber 54 to force the pin 24 out of its opening 34. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the pin (24<SP>1</SP>) threadedly engages within the opening (34<SP>1</SP>) in the lower half 16 of the blade ring.</p> |
