[Also in Division F2] Flexible dip tubes 11 are forced on to a nipple 143 on the valve 141 of an aerosol by means of pneumatic pressure which accelerates it in a tube 14, Fig. 3, so that it is driven on to the nipple by impact. Plastics tubing 11 drawn from a reel (2, Fig. 1, not shown), is fed into tubes 14 which are rotated in steps about spindle 128 by Geneva wheel 15. A rotating blade 23 is eccentrically mounted on rotating shaft 20 which also carries the drives 19 of the Geneva movement, and it cuts off suitable lengths of tubing in the tubes 14. The tubing 11 is carried round to compressed air orifice 131, so that the tubing is propelled up tube 14, through a guide channel 139 in cylinder 138 and on to extension 142, 143 of valve 141. The valves are held in position in plate 144 (see Fig. 7, not shown). |
