This invention relates to a novel recombinant DNA, comprising having inserted in a vector DNA a DNA containing a gene coding for an enzyme capable of synthesizing a physiologically active substance by conversion of ATP to ADP and a DNA containing a gene coding for acetate kinase. Said physiologically active substance is glutathion, said enzyme comprises a alpha -glutamyl-L-cysteine synthetase. Further, this invention relates to a method for the production of glutathione, wherein cultured cell bodies of a microorganism containing said recombinant DNA or processed bodies of said microorganism is contacted with glutamic acid, cysteine, glycine, adonosine-5 min -triphosphoric acid, acetylphosphoric acid, and magnesium ion. |
