Grains of clay, with which additives may be mixed, are fed continuously to the combustion oven and are heated to the expansion temp. The rise in temp. in the oven is caused by a flow in the same direction, while the extraction of water from the granules by means of the oven vent gases, is effected in counter-current. This imparts a regular shape to the granules. |
