1,232,283. Fuzes. FORENADE FABRIKSVERKEN. 5 June, 1968 [30 June, 1967], No. 26774/68. Heading F3A. A fuze for a grenade or land mine comprises a striker 4 secured to a cap 8 formed with tongues 7 which co-operate with sawtooth shaped surfaces 6 in the fuze body 2 such that on rotating the cap the tongues climb up the surfaces to stress a spring surrounding the striker and eventually, one of the tongues snaps down to be supported entirely by the heel 15 of a striker release lever 12. On throwing the grenade or mine, the release lever is lifted, to free the cap and striker, by means of a parachute device (17, Fig. 3, not shown) connected by a wire to the end of the lever. In another embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown) the tongues are formed as a single surface which will rise about the heel of the release lever until the heel snaps into a groove in the surface. In another embodiment (Fig. 6, not shown) the tongues are replaced by bars and in a further embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) the surfaces 6 are replaced by one or more pins. In yet another embodiment the surface 6 is designed as a plug-in unit (Figs. 7-9, not shown) and the release lever 12 is held in place by means of a ring (21) which is thrown off when its own inertia, on launching the grenade or mine, overcomes the retaining effect of a permagnent magnet (26). All parts are made of plastics as far as possible. |
