PURPOSE:To obtain accurate output signals, by surrounding both sides of a carrier transfer main channel with auxiliary transfer channels and setting a fixed DC level corresponding to a dark current where incident light is shut off and light is detected. CONSTITUTION:Both sides of charge transfer main channel 6 are surrounded by auxiliary channels 10, 11. Since these are shut off from light, thermal dark current is accumulated in a potential well here, so that they are free from the effect of charges produced by incident light. Channel 10 collects charges produced and scattered by incident light in places other than an activation unit, and channel 11 collects charges produced by the incident light of main channels 7-9 and are unable to be contained in the potential well. Signal charges accumulated in photoelectric converter unit 1 are added with pulses successively and are transferred to register 3 in parallel via storage unit 2, and they are detected (4) and read as output signals. At this time, level signal 6a corresponding to the dark current from channel 6 is taken out, and section T corresponding to the dark current of the input signal is fixed at a specified DC level VR.
