PURPOSE:To estimate a halftone picture from a pseudo halftone picture expressed in a binary picture element. CONSTITUTION:The device is provided with a white level picture element number counter 2 counting the number of white level picture elements in a picture element block controlled by a parameter (n), a memory 3 storing white level picture element number data outputted from the white level picture element number counter 2 and regression coefficient arithmetic operation sections 41-4p calculating a regression coefficient from plural white level picture element number data stored in the memory 3. An estimate density arithmetic operation section 5 calculates a mean value of the plural regression coefficients alpha1-alphap outputted from the regression coefficient arithmetic operation sections 41-4p to provide an output of eestimated density. |
