A directive type LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to prevent the loss of light rays emitted from a lamp, thereby reducing the number of used lamps, by improving the structure of an optical sheet so as to shorten the light path. A directive type LCD comprises an LCD panel, a diffusing sheet, a lamp(130), and a reflector. At least one optical sheet is disposed between the LCD panel and the diffusing sheet. The optical sheet has a plurality of polarized axis elements(111) formed of a light transmissive material. The polarized axis elements are embossed or engraved in a prism shape within respective rectangular parallelepiped configurations. A cross-section of the polarized axis element, which is cut in parallel with a short side of the rectangular parallelepiped configuration, has a semi-circle shape or a triangle shape. The polarized axis elements are arranged on a surface of a base film such that a distance between facing short sides of neighboring rectangular parallelepiped configurations is above zero value. |
