The present invention relates to a material comprising carbon nanotubes aligned on a spherical, spheroidal or ellipsoidal substrate, as well as to a method for making the same and to the use thereof. The material has a spherical shape with a diameter lower than 7 mm, or a spheroidal or ellipsoidal shape with a main axis length lower than 7 mm and a secondary axis length lower than 6.99 mm, and includes a core entirely coated with a continuous layer of aligned multiwalled carbon nanotubes, each of the tubes being perpendicular to the surface of the core.
