<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder which accurately detects defective record at a high speed by a simple configuration, and to provide a method of detecting defective record by the recorder, and a program. <P>SOLUTION: A defective recording nozzle judgment part 9 judges whether an image region composed of pixel trains is a text image region or a non text image region, on the basis of the size of a fluctuation in density distribution by every pixel train which shows a relationship between a position of each pixel and a density in the pixel train of one pixel in each line that constitutes an image expressed by image data sent from an upper rank unit 12.
