<p>Continuous prodn. of artificial sponges comprises coagulating a paste consisting of viscose, a reinforcing element and a pore forming agent, the coagulation being effected while the paste is passing through a solid moulding matrix, while the paste undergoing displacement in the matrix is surrounded by a permeable cover which is pressed against the wall of the moulding matrix. The process and apparatus enable artificial sponges to be economically produced from viscose on a continuous basis. The apparatus is simpler than previous apparatus used for this purpose. Sponges of different shapes and sizes can be easily produced by simple charges in the type of moulding matrix.</p> |
