1,220,417. Filling containers. C. G. SIEBEL. 4 July, 1968 [5 July, 1967], No. 32026/68. Heading B8T. A compressed fluid propellent 9, e.g. an aerosol, is fed into a pressure-discharge container 2 by means of apparatus including a nozzle 1 having a filling valve 7, 8, an open mouth 16, and an annular groove 20 housing a sealing gasket 21, the groove 20 being formed with one or more slots 22 which allow the propellent 9 to pass round the radially outer edge of the gasket 21. The force of the propellent compresses the gasket against a casing 3 which houses a valve 4 for evacuating the container, Fig. 5 (not shown). Each slot 22 may extend into the radially outer wall 23 of the groove 20 and may be semi-circular in cross-section. Initially, the inner diameter of the gasket (21) is larger than the outer diameter of the casing (3), Fig. 4 (not shown), thereby avoiding undue wear of the gasket which may be of cross-linked polyurethane. |
