PURPOSE: To obtain a heat transfer donor compsn. which can directly transfer a colorant by a small irradiation energy on various substrates contg. ordinary papers by providing the compsn. comprising a black metal layer, a specified gas generating polymer layer and a colorant in the polymer layer or on the polymer layer on the surface of a substrate. CONSTITUTION: A heat transfer donor compsn. comprising a substrate, a black metal layer on one surface of the substrate, a gas generating polymer layer contg. a mixture of a metal and a metal oxide on the black metal layer and a colorant in the gas generating polymer layer or on the gas generating polymer layer is provided. In addition, heat transfer image formation is performed by providing a process wherein the surface layer of such a donor ingredients is brought into contact with the surface of a receptor and a process wherein the donor sheet is irradiated with a light with an enough energy for generating a gas from the gas generating layer and transferring the colorant on the surface of the receptor. As the black metal layer, a black aluminum or a black tin is used and as the colorant, a pigment in a binder or a dye layer is used. |
