1,198,038. Anti-picking locks. BATON YALE & TOWNE Inc. 13 Nov., 1968 [28 March, 1968], (No. 53840/68. Heading E2A. Picking of a revolving-barrel, pin-tumbler look is prevented by the use of additional lateral tumblers in 'the barrel which are moved to the fastening or releasing position by movement of the main tumblers. As shown in Figs. 2, 3 and 4, the additional tumblers 17, 17a are normally held into engagement with holes 20, 20a by the main tumblers 13a, 13b. &C When key K is inserted to lift the main tumblers from the path of the side tumblers, inward movement of the side tumblers under the camming action of rounded surfaces 21 allows rotation of the barrel, Fig. 4. The tumbler drivers 14 have tapered noses 22 to enable them to act on the' tumblers when the barrel is slightly misaligned. When picking is attempted, the side tumblers accept the packing torque and no indication is given as to the position of the main tumblers 13. The side tumblers may be spring loaded at 24, as shown in Fig. 5.
|
