Exhaust gas oxidation catalysts comprise a major amount of an oxidation catalyst and a minor amount of an inorganic non-metallic material capable of expanding and becoming resilient e.g. V, Pt, Pd, Rh, Cu, Ag, Cr, Mn, Fe or oxides thereof supported on Al2O3, BeO, ThO2, MgO, ZrO2, or SiO2. Preferred supports are vehmiculite, Fibenfrax, and silica stabilised Al2O3.
