1,234,843. Semi-conductor oscillator. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO. Inc. 23 Dec., 1968 [29 Dec., 1967], No. 60959/68. Heading H3T. Two or more negative resistance diode assemblies 16, 17, 18 are connected electrically in series and are so mounted inside a resonator 11, and so separated from one another that their r.f. outputs add in phase. Each assembly consists of a diode (27, Fig. 2, not shown) mounted on a stud (28) integral with a circular base (29), and the assemblies are mounted in the resonator by electrically insulating thermally conductive rings 19, made of beryllium oxide. They are linked by electrically conductive bellows 25 to one another and to a conductor 13, between which and the outer conductor 12 of the resonator a D.C. is applied. Tuning rings 21 are provided on the conductor 13, which is coupled to the centre conductor 15 of a coaxial output line. The diodes are spaced by one quarter of a wavelength at the operating frequency. |
