A differential manometer using an opaque fluid having a relative density of approximately 1 and means responsive to electromagnetic radiation are associated so that the manometer liquid serves as a movable shutter in the path between the responsive means and a light source in order to develop in the responsive means an output signal dependent on the pressure differential applied to the manometer. Elongated photo-cells are associated with each column with the tops of their sensitive areas level with the tops of the fluid columns, under balanced conditions. Alternatively the heights may be such as to enable differential operation. The manometer fluid may be a mixture of distilled water and drawing ink. |
