Polymeric binding agent for electrostatic copying paper consisting of an electrically conducting paper base layer with a photoconducting coating consisting of finely divided ZnO particles dispersed in a polymeric binding agent, has an acid number of 9-90 the greater part of the acid being present as a soluble copolymer contg. a copolymerised monoethylenically unsatd. acid, while at least 80% of the copolymer consists of (I) an aromatic monovinyl cpd., (II) a monovinyl ester or (III) an ester of a monoethylenic carboxylic acid, the esters in components II and III being of hydrocarbyl origin, at least 15% of the copolymer consisting of (II) and/or (III), and none of the cpds. (I) and (II) forming more than 85% of the copolymer.
