Electrolyte for capacitors (esp. low voltage) contains gamma-butyrolactone and/or DMF, 10-50 wt. % >=1 polyhydric alcohol, pref. ethylene glycol, and dissolved ionogen, pref. a salt of adipic, maleic, malic, tartaric, salicylic, phthalic or succinic acid with diethylamine, triethylamine, diethanolamine or triethanolamine. The addn. of the polyhydric alcohol allows sufficient dissocn. of the ionogen, at low and high temp., for the required specific resistance to be obtained.
