The acylated polyethylenimine is prepd. from 2-6 moles of fatty acid (ester) (11-23C in alkyl) and 1 mole of polyethylenimine of mol.wt. 600-1800 and is added (80-10 wt.%) as a softening agent to a detergent comprising (in wt.%) 5-80 of tenside compsn. contg. 20-90 at least one of sulphonate and/or sulphate tensides, soaps, zwitterionic or non-ionic tensides; 0-10 non-tenside foam inhibitors and 95-20 of usual additives e.g. dirt carriers, enzymes, brighteners, perfume, dye, Esp. for washing cotton or linen without impairing absorption characteristics of fabric and impart antistatic props. to synthetic fibres.
