<p>Heat recovery unit comprises a closed circuit contg., degassed fluid. The circuit consists of an evaporator, a condenser and connecting pipes. The level of the bottom of the condenser is higher than the top of the evaporator. The connecting pipes lead from the top of the evaporator to the top of the condenser and from the bottom of the condenser to the bottom of the evaporator. When the unit is operational the temp. of the evaporator is higher than that of the condenser. When they have a common temp. the level of the fluid is between the bottom of the condenser and the top of the evaporator. During operation, when the evaporator is surrounded by a current of the hot medium and the condenser by the cold, the evaporator becomes almost full of liq. and the condenser of gas. A small bubble of gas is maintained at the top of the evaporator and a small height of liq. in the bottom of the condenser. This helps to prevent carry-over of liq. from the evaporator or gas from the condenser. It is possible to use a battery of several heat recovery units to effect greater heat recovery. The unit can be adapted for use with solar energy. The evaporator is placed behind the energy receivers and the condenser, in coiled form, may be placed in a container of water - thereby heating the water. The system can be used for recovering heat from industrial plant and using it to heat air for workshops etc.</p> |
