The machine loads and unloads vessels partic. autoclaves used in the food industry accommodating containers. It comprises a swing arm (3) mounted near the loading opening, which can be sealed from the vessel, and pivoting (8) so as to move into the plane of this opening. The arm also slides at right angles to this plane for a distance at least equal to the length of a container (1). It can be mounted on two guide bars (9, 10) running parallel to the direction of movement of the container, being actuated by a spindle (13) driven by an electric motor. The arm swing motion can also be motor-driven, and alternatively, it can be slid by hydraulic or pneumatic rams.
