The present invention is a visible light absorption element 10 that changes a frequency component of the visible light that is reflected from or transmitted through the element 10 in response to a change in temperature due to the heat received from an object. The visible light absorption element 10 has a resonant frequency included in the frequency range of the visible light. The visible light absorption element 10 absorbs the visible light with the same frequency as the resonant frequency. The visible light absorption element 10 is thermally deformed by the change in temperature to thereby change the resonant frequency of itself and absorbs the visible light with the changed resonant frequency.
