The method of installing floor covering layers onto an underlay (30) provides a number of holes in the layers, through which cap bodies (1) are inserted. The layers are then placed on the underlay and then the resting position of the layers relative to the underlay is adjusted using screws (10) held in place by the caps. The end surface of each screw takes up a contact position against a supporting cross-section (31) of the underlay, whilst the screws are capped by being covered by the upper surface (22) of the layer following placing of the layers in their final position. Each cap has a flange with an upper surface contacting a cross-section of the lower surface (21) of the layer, and also has about its periphery a means for preventing turning of the cap relative to the layer when the cap is fixed into the layer. |
