A tetrahydroisoquinoline compound of the formula:
<Chemistry id="chema01" num="0001"><Image id="ia01" he="21" wi="86" file="IMGA0001.TIF" imgContent="chem" imgFormat="TIFF" inline="no" /></Chemistry>wherein R<Sup>1</Sup> is alkyl of one to six carbon atoms, cycloalkyl of threeto six carbon atoms allyl or propargyl, R<Sup>2</Sup> is hydrogen or alkyl of one to six carbon atoms, and R<Sup>3</Sup> is hydrogen, alkyl of one to six carbon atoms or benzyl. Methods for preparing the compound (I) are disclosed. The compound (I) and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof are useful as a diagnostic or therapeutic agent for angiotensin-related hypertension.
