PURPOSE:To fix automatically an optical-system reciprocating part when a movable part is opened without shifting the optical-system reciprocating part to one side, by providing a brake mechanism to a motor for driving an optical system. CONSTITUTION:When an upper frame 3 is closed, the collision part 10b of a brake member 10 abuts on the upper end of a bracket 9 to swing the member 10 clockwise against the tensile strength of a spring 12, and the collision part 10b disengages from an idler gear 8. Then, an optical-system driving motor M6 and the idler gear 8 are made rotatable to allow a platen or scanning system to rotate. When the frame 3 is opened upward owing to paper jamming, the collision part 10b leaves the bracket 9 and a brake member 10a strikes the gear 8 by the spring 12 and is fixed. Therefore, even if the frame slants, the platen or scanning system never slides down. |
