In order to carry out the precision machining of rotating crankpins of crankshafts, at least one precision-machining unit is provided. The carrier of the latter is arranged in a suspended manner and to be capable of displacement in a plane-parallel manner on a securing means and is supported on the crankpin by means of rollers or supporting shoes. A grinding apparatus, e.g. a grinding roller, for the crankpin is assigned to the precision-machining unit, which apparatus can be controlled, in depdendence on a levelling means fitted on said grinding apparatus, in the parallel position with respect to the axis of the crankshaft central pin. At least to one side of the grinding roller (17) there is provided a further grinding roller (42), having a smaller diameter, for the lateral circumferential part (39a, 39b), to be machined, of the crankpin (2). Said grinding roller (17) is arranged so as to be vertically adjustable and displaceable in the axial direction. In this way, it is made possible likewise to be able to grind those circumferential surfaces of the crankpin which are located in a concealed manner in the recessed part of the side faces. <IMAGE>
