PURPOSE:To obtain stable and good recording and reproducing characteristics by inclining the direction where a thin ferromagnetic metallic film grows to the side of a surface for sliding with a tape toward the butt faces of a magnetic gap. CONSTITUTION:The thin ferromagnetic metallic film is so formed that the growth direction thereof inclines to the side of the face for sliding with the tape toward the butt faces of the magnetic gap. Plural pieces of grooves each having an approximately V-shaped section are formed by a rotary grinding wheel, etc., atop a ferromagnetic oxide substrate 7 consisting of Mn-Zn ferrite, etc. The thin ferromagnetic metallic film 5 consisting of 'SENDUST(R)', etc., is then formed atop the ferromagnetic oxide substrate 7 by a sputtering method, etc. A target is so disposed that the flying direction of the sputtering particles is in the arrow direction with respect to the substrate 7 to grow the thin ferromagnetic metallic film 5 having the columnar structure in a diagnoal line direction. The magnetic head of a composite type which is free from an adverse influence of a pseudo gap and has the excellent output characteristics at respective frequencies as well as the stable and good recording and reproducing characteristics is thereby obtd. |
