PURPOSE:To provide a magnetic recording apparatus forming magnetic tracks having high density width. CONSTITUTION:A recording and playback head 8 provided on a rotary cylinder 5 via an actuator 9 and a head base 6 and a playback head 7 are provided. The actuator 9 is controlled and the mounting height of recording and playback head 8 is adjusted in accordance with a playback output of the playback head 7.
