The object of the present invention is to modulate the digital colour signal using a simple circuit with neither multiplier nor ROMs in use for multiplying sine wave and cosine wave. The digital colour signal modulating apparatus of the present invention comprises the first selector 1, the second selector 2, and the third selector 3. In the apparatus, the first selector 1 and the second selector 2 provide the U signal component and the V signal component of the digital colour signal to the third selector 3 at a half cycle, respectively. The third selector 3 alternately selects one of those signals, which is combined with the subcarrier wave. For both modulations with the sine wave and with the cosine wave, the input signal inverts and the fourth selector 4 selects the outputs of the through path 6 and the inversion path 7 in turn, thus producing the modulated outputs. <IMAGE>
