The freely suspended wing (1) of the door is driven along its guide (2) by a preferably three-phase AC motor (3) coupled to it by self-arresting worm gearing (4). Such a drive enables a torque to be selected so that static forces of 150 N are not exceeded. The gearing prevents manual opening of the door as soon as power is disconnected from the motor. In view of the necessary starting torque and relatively low running torque, the wing of such a door should not exceed 5-6 m in length unless manufactured from light metal and especially Al. |
