This discloses a collar 10 for a cooking utensil that is configured to hold the working end of the utensil above a horizontal surface on which it is placed. The collar has two pivotally 40 attached portions both with perimeters 50 and interior regions 30 and with fasteners configured to mate with each other. The interior regions 30 are formed from a resilient material sized and configured to deform about a portion of the cooking utensil adjacent to the working end of the cooking utensil.
