A database structure for vehicle detection according to the present invention comprises: a first database for storing a semantic area model as an area which is connected to a pixel position in an image and in which a moving object is located; and a second database for storing, in correspondence with the semantic area model, a size template for acquiring a sub-image of the moving object to be compared with a classifier. The present invention can provide a vehicle detection method which has a low cost, requires a small amount of calculation, is quickly performed, is automated, and has a high accuracy.
