A syringe has a collapsible body 10 with an integral base 15 of less diameter than that of the body and joined to the lower edge of the body side wall by a radiused portion 16c, thereby enabling the base 15 to be pushed inwards towards the nozzle end of the syringe when pressure is applied to a hollow shaft 17. An annular flange (19), Fig. 3 (not shown), may be formed on the body side wall. The base may have a stud-like projection (20), Fig. 4 (not shown), and in this form the syringe may fit within an outer casing (30), Figs. 7. and 8 (not shown), a separate piston member being engaged with the member (20) and slidable in the casing (30). Both the casing and syringe may be of a synthetic resin; the syringe body may be of polyethylene or tetrafluoroethylene. The outer surface of the nozzle may be tapered to receive a hypodermic needle. |
