[Also in Division F4] A halogen lamp comprising a cylindrical envelope containing a main filament and an axially extending dipping filament has a screen for the dipping filament arranged on the wall of the lamp envelope and subtending an angle between 165 and 180 degrees at the axis, the envelope having an outer diameter of between 8 mm. and 14 mm. In the form shown, the main filament 2 is located at the focus of a parabolic reflector 4 and extends transversely to the reflector axis X-X. The dipping filament 3 is arranged in front of the focus and a tranverse screen 12 is disposed between the filaments 2 and 3. A further screen 13 is formed by a coating of paint applied to the envelope between the pip 5 and the screen 12 and covers the lower half up to a horizontal boundary on one side and a boundary up to 15 degrees below the horizontal at the other. In a modification, the dipping filament is arranged parallel to but displaced from the axis of the lamp, and between the focal point of the reflector and the pinch. In this case, the internal screen 12 is omitted and the screen 13 is formed by painting an area of the upper half of the lamp. |
