<p>1515804 Filling bottles PONT-A-MOUSSON SA 3 Aug 1976 [6 Aug 1975] 32208/76 Heading B8T Bottles are gravity-filled by a device in which an air vent tube is moved by a system of rods. A bottle B is raised to seal against gasket 9. Further raising of the bottle moves centring cone 8 and telescopic sleeve 10 relative to filling tube 6. Pin 23 contacts the upper surface of ring 25 and is moved upwards, this movement being transmitted by rod 22, balls 20, rod 18 (all in rigid sheath 19) and ring 16 into downward movement of vent tube 11 which is integral with nozzle 12. Orifice 14 is thus opened, as is the opening 15 of vent tube 11, so that the pressures in the bottle and above the liquid A in vat 1 are equalized and liquid may flow by gravity from vat 1 through orifice 3, body 2, and filling tube 6 into the bottle. When the bottle is filled to the level of opening 15, air can no longer escape through tube 11, pressure rises in the bottle and the flow stops. An external cam rotates ring 25 by finger 26 so than finger 23 may drop into a slot in ring 25. Rod 22 thus moves down and rod 18 moves up, together with vent tube 11 and nozzle 12 which thus seals again inside filling tube 6. The bottle is lowered, followed by cone 8 and sleeve 10, releasing finger 23 which disengages from ring 25 to enable the ring to return to its original position due to spring 28.</p> |
