Total albumin determination

A small amt. of a sample (pref. ca 0.02.ml.) is contacted with a soln. contg. a known concn. of bromocresol green (pref. 1.Ml. of a 0.05 wt.% soln) and a small amt. of a non-ionic surfactant (pref. polyoxyethylene sorbitan monolaurated). The optical absorbance at 620-640 mu is then read (pre. after diluting to ca. 4 ml) and compared against a control not contg. the sample. The pH of the soln is pref. 4.0. Increase in absorbance is linearly proportional to albumin concs. up to ca. 6%.
