HYDROCRACKING CATALYST ACTIVATION TREATMENT

A hydrocracking catalyst containing an Iron Group metal on a silica-aluming refractory oxide support is deactivated by contact with water vapor at elevated temperatures. The catalytic activity and stability are improved by treating the catalyst in the presence of sulfide with a gas comprising hydrogen and a fluorine compound at a temperature of about 250 DEG to 550 DEG C.
